The Professional Tennis Registry boasts many talented members. One such member is Dr. Ludovit S. Cap. Born in Nitra, Czechoslovakia in September, 1945, Louie began his tennis career at the age of 11 as a ball boy at a local tennis club. From the first time Louie hit a tennis ball with a borrowed racquet, he became totally involved with the game and has been playing tennis seriously ever since. Being a ranked player in Czechoslovakia. Louie played on the European circuit in 1964. A scholarship in Nuclear Physics was offered to Louie from the University of Washington in Seattle and he left Czechoslovakia for the United States in December of 1966. After spending two years studying at the University of Washington, Louie enrolled in Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He continued to play tennis regularly and assisted in coaching the University’s tennis team. While at Baylor, Louie was a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, an honorary physics society for graduate students, and Sigma XI, an honorary physics research society. He received his PhD in Nuclear Physics from Baylor in June 1973. Louie met Dennis Van der Meer at Berkeley Tennis Club in Berkeley, CA in 1967 and has since been his top teaching assistant, traveling all over the world teaching with the Van der Meer TennisUniversity. Louie is PTR Pro of The Year in 1993, is one of the charter PTR Master Pros in 1995 and Tester of The Year in 2006. He travels extensively doing PTR workshops worldwide and also conducts clinics for adults and juniors. Besides Louie’s tennis and his interests in computers; photography and foreign languages, he is a most accomplished long distance runner. Louie began running 32 years ago just for fun and now runs 10 miles per day religiously. He has competed in many marathons including 33 consecutive “ultimate” Boston Marathons. The Professional Tennis Registry is proud to have such a talented and versatile young man among its membership. |
